Biography

I earned my doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Adelphi University and completed my internship at the VA Hospital in Bedford, MA. I also pursued additional clinical experience in post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard Vanguard and MassGeneral for Children at North Shore Medical Center (NSMC) in Behavioral Health and Neuropsychology.


I focus on helping individuals strengthen self esteem and identity, cope effectively with the multiple challenges of aging, and improve relationships by enhancing skills in communication. I strive to adapt treatment to the unique needs of each individual, stressing the collaborative nature of psychotherapy, and my role in providing empathy and authenticity that enable clients to safely explore their concerns.




Ana Silfer returned to school in her fifties to earn a doctoral degree in Clinical Psychology at Adelphi University. She completed her Internship at the VA Hospital in Bedford, MA and pursued additional clinical experience in post-doctoral fellowships at Harvard Vanguard in Behavioral Health and at MassGeneral for Children, North Shore Medical Center in Neuropsychology. As staff clinician at the Boston Institute for Psychotherapy, she furthered her skills in psychodynamic psychotherapy. Dr. Silfer works with young to mature adults who experience mood disorders, anxiety, interpersonal problems, trauma, grief and loss. She is also interested in helping individuals strengthen self esteem and identity, improve relationships by enhancing skills in communication, and cope effectively with the multiple challenges of aging. By integrating a range of methodologies, Dr. Silfer strives to adapt treatment to the unique needs of each individual. Stressing the collaborative nature of psychotherapy, she views her role as providing the empathy and authenticity that enable clients to explore their concerns safely.
