First and foremost  is the importance of the therapeutic relationship, which involves a compassionate and direct approach; using the treatment of the whole person in the context of her/his/their history and current life situation.  This combines my experiences in multiple mental health settings including inpatient and partial hospitals, as well as outpatient clinics.
